Visalia Elks to Soledad Canyon TT, Acton, CA - October 30, 2021

From the Red Bluff Elks, while the rain had stopped, we quickly packed up and continued our trip southward. We traveled south on Interstate 5, and then got on Highway 99 at Sacramento. After an uneventful drive of 345 miles, we parked it at the Elks Lodge in Visalia, CA.

They usually ask for a $20.00 donation to stay in their 30 Amp & water sites. We were wanting to just park for the night and not unhook the truck, so we just parked out of the way along the side of the normal parking spots. Boondocking for the night was just fine for us. So... it was a free camping stop for us. Our third 'Bump and Run' stop for us this season. We made this quick trip south this time because of the 'Bomb Cyclone' weather event that was to happen during our trip. It seemed that we have successfully stayed ahead of it. We did drive through some of the rain, but it wasn't too bad.

Bright and early, we were off again. This time, just a 190 mile stretch to Bakersfield, up and over Tehachapi Pass, and through Mojave, Lancaster, and Palmdale to the Soledad Canyon Thousand Trails park at Acton, CA. There are several parking loops here, but there is only one that gives you good cell/internet service. And we got a great spot in the good service area.

We are planning to stay here for 13 days. It is nice to have time to just kick back and do nothing. Just relax. We do have plans to meet up with our Son Tim & family at Disneyland this coming Monday. We are looking forward to the visit. We are still kids at heart. It will be fun to watch our two Grandsons, Rome & Ryker go crazy there.

During our time here, Donna has been re-organizing all our cabinets and down-sizing again, a never ending process, that is coming along pretty well. No, it is not time for us to buy a bigger RV...haha. I am catching up on my book reading, actually listening, because my books are all on audio book format. I am currently on book 10 (of 15) of the Wheel of Time series. I listen every morning while I go for a walk-about around the RV park.

One day, we stopped by the Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale. This is such a neat place. Lots of cool planes on display.  Sorry about the number of pictures...I like planes.

I also had time (and permission) to wash my truck and RV. This is not normally allowed in a RV park, especially in California. The weather has been great and it was enjoyable.

I had time to run our generator, a Predator 3500 from Harbor Freight. I run it in the back of our truck, where I keep it. I run it for 20-25 minutes once a month with a load on it. I use our space heater for the load.

We have only used it when we need an air conditioner, and now that we are back in the southwest, I think a monthly run will be sufficient till we head north in the Spring.

That's it for now. The next post will be about our visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.
