About Time for a Post! - March 31, 2019

Wow! Time sure is flying by. It has been over a month and a half since my last post. Time to catch up....if I can remember what all we have been doing. Here goes.

We did some visiting friends. It seems almost everyone who winters in Arizona, eventually makes it into Yuma for a spell. We spent some time with Nancy & Steve and Ed, while they were in town. Another good time. We will stop and see them again when we head north soon they own an RV park near Wells, NV.

Last season, while visiting yard sales around the area, I bought a big set of beer making supplies. Time to try it all out. I purchased a beer kit from Northern Brewer. It is Block Party Amber Ale. I sanitized all of my pieces and parts, and proceeded to make a 5 gallon batch.

It was kinda fun. A lot of work though. I got it in the carboy fermenting, and then I will start bottling in 2 weeks.

I went to the Howling at the Moon at the end of April. It is always the last full moon of each month.

Everyone was having a good time.

Working around our house....
We painted our Arizona room that I built this season.

I also ripped a piece of T-111 and did the trim inside and out. Yay! It is finally done.

And we also went to Costco in El Centro and bought 20 boxes of Laminate Flooring. I ripped out the carpeting in our living room, hallway, and bathroom, and installed the new flooring. That was quite the job. Then I bought new base boards to go around it all. Looks good. Sorry, no pics.

Well, the two weeks have gone by. Time to bottle the Ale.

Now it is a two week wait (at room temperature) before refrigerating and enjoying.

I also went to the annual Yuma Airshow at he USMC Air Base. Lots of cool planes and demos.

Ont of the demos was the A-10 Thunderbolt Two live fire. Awesome!

We packed up the RV and along with Bev & Tim, we all headed to Palm Springs. We stayed 5 nights at the Thousand Trails there.

While there, we visited the San Andreas Fault just outside of Palm Desert.

Cool area. Water seeps up from the fault and has turned the place into an oasis.

Oh, and since two weeks had passed since I bottled my Ale, I took 4 bottles with me. My 5 gallon batch made 27 22 oz bottles. I have been faithfully on the Keto diet for a month and a half (lost 46 pounds), but hey, this is vacation time.

OMG! It was soo good! Smooth and yummy.

While in the area, we met up with Tim & Erik, who were our Team Leaders at the fire camp in Paradise, CA back in December and January. We had lunch at a nice street cafe in downtown Palm Springs.

Yep, Palm Springs is a great place to spend time at.

Interesting stuff all over.

I have been hiking up in the Telegraph Pass area probably 5 times a week. Good exercise and the desert is really blooming.

And we hve blooms on our cacti at our place too!

Right now, we are packing up the RV and getting everything ready to close up the house and head north for the summer. We are planning to head out April 10th. Our route this year will be north through Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and into Washington. Our grand daughter, Ally just turned 9 months old. Lookin' forward to visiting our kids, grand kids, and our great grandson.
