We made it to the airport around 4:30 AM in the morning, July 15th. Our fire bags packed and ready to go. The Spokane International Airport long term parking was really tight for our 1 ton dually truck, but we got it in. The flight to Reno, NV was uneventful, and we arrived and awaited pickup. It took 45 minutes or so, and we got picked up and were on our way to Potelo, CA where the fire camp was.
This is fire camp. Where our sleeper trailers are. A good nights sleep for the firefighters on the front line.
As soon as we arrived, we found out that the camp was moving to a remote spot just outside of Beckwourth, CA. Nothing but sage brush and cow pies. But it quickly became a fire camp.
We had 12 sleeper units, 42 beds per sleeper. Our job was to clean and sanitize the sleeper trailers twice a day. Once in the morning at 6 AM, and again at 6 PM. Some fire fighters work 12 hour shifts, and some 24 hour shifts. Our trailers provide conditioned air for their good nights sleep.
Later on I got to be a fueler and keep the generators fueled up with diesel fuel.
After 7 days, the fire suppression was winding down, and we were given the option of going home, or to a new fire camp. We opted for a new camp.

The Dixie fire. We had 35 sleeper units moved in to the fair grounds in Quincy, CA. This place became a city. We had laundry services, mess hall, showers, and everything you need to establish a fire camp. We were sleeping over 1000 fire fighters everyday. I became the fueler at this camp,
The fire got kinda close to us. We do have an exit plan.
It put on a nice show for us.
I worked as a fueler, keeping the diesel generators running in all our sleepers.
and later on I worked with a new Lubrication trailer to change oil in the sleeper units generators.
nd Donna was helping with housekeeping. While at this camp, Donna maintained the cleaning tables with water, cleaning rags, gloves, trash bags, cleaning chemicals (D7), and buckets.

After 14 days at this camp, we were asked if we wanted to go home.
We decided to go ahead and go home (to our RV), and renew our prescriptions repack our bags, and Donna needed to see a doctor about her finger nails and how they are wasting away. More on that later.
So we are back in Washington, at our moochdocking site, taking care of a few things before we go out again.
