Review - Lake Texoma TT - Gordonville, TX - October 27 to November 1, 2022

This Thousand Trails is possibly the nicest one we have been to. It was not busy this time of the year. The pools were closed too. The roads to the park were no problem.

The Verizon cell service was just fine and we could stream anything we wanted. Several OTA TV channels came in clearly.

There are 285 RV sites here. There was recent electrical upgrades done and there is a $3.00 per day charge for 50 amp. We had a 30 amp site and it was just fine. All the RV sites are very spacious. They have all the typical amenities available. The showers in the bathhouse were incredibly clean.

Absolutely nothing bad about this park. One of the best.

The Next Leg - Yuma to Texas - October 28, 2022

It felt good to be heading out. We finally are going to see and visit some new things and places. After Texas, we will be staying in some new states and will be able to add some new stickers to our USA travel map.

So on October 22, we left Desert Paradise RV Park in Yuma and headed East on Interstate 8. Nothing but great weather and good tunes on our Sirius/XM radio. We drove 315 miles and spent the night, boondocking, at our first Harvest Hosts spot at The Cattle Rest Saloon in Wilcox, AZ.

I signed the HH book inside the saloon and it really looked like a wild west type saloon. It had a big dance floor and a real cowboy look to the place. Unfortunately they did not have any food there, so we just hung out in our RV and called it a night. They have a little campground behind the saloon with FHU for $20, but we opted to just boondock in the big open space out front. Just one night here.

The next day, we traveled 141 miles along Interstate 10 into New Mexico and stayed two nights at the Dream Catchers RV Park in Deming, NM. This is a nice Escapees park and charged us $56.62 for 50 amp FHU. While in Deming, I took our truck to Walmart and had an oil change. They actually did a good job and just charged me $74.00. That is the least I have ever paid for an oil change.

Into Texas we went, passing the big roadrunner at a rest stop in Las Cruses, NM.

The traffic wasn't bad through El Paso and the 311 miles went by pretty fast. The closer we got to Pecos, our destination for the night, we came into lots of oil fields. It sure is big business in this part of Texas. We spent one night at another Escapees park here called TRA Park. Not much at the park, just flat and spread out. The town of Pecos was nice though. We just did one night here.

Then on we went through the oil field country of central Texas 316 miles to moochdock with our friends in Rising Star, TX. We met David & Debbie McInroe at our annual Christian Fellowship rallies every year in Quartzsite, AZ and they invited us to stay at their place. The have FHU for us too! Great folks they are. We sat around that day and got all caught up. We may see them again in southern Texas along the Gulf coast. We were going to spend three night with them, but lots of rain was coming and I would feel bad putting big ruts in their yard that we were parking on. So we left early. Thanks guys...It was good to see you again.

Yesterday, we drove 217 miles toward the metroplex area of Dallas-Fort Worth. We skirted around Fort Worth (lots of construction) and ended up at our campground north of Dallas along the Texas & Oklahoma boarder. We are at Lake Texoma RV Campground. This is one of our Thousand Trails campgrounds that we have never been to. We got all settled in and now it is time to slow down and enjoy it all. The rain started last night, but this place look really nice. Will explore it all later. We will be here five days.
