Before we left the Huntsville area, we got together with another ole Army buddy. We met Dave in Germany and again in Redstone arsenal in Huntsville, AL. We have been keeping in touch with David & Linda via Facebook for several years and we were finally able to visit with them again. After the big storm, we are so lucky, we went to their house just a few miles away from Huntsville. After so many years, it was easy to catch-up again. These guys are lifelong friends. We got to their house at 1 PM, and didn't head back to our RV till 9 PM. We had a great visit.
This is a picture of one of the Redstone Arsenal gates, but so much time has gone by....I could not recognize anything.
I guess folks are right when they say...you can never go back.
We did experience some crazy weather storms while we were in Huntsville. There was a hanging tree limb above our RV and I was a little concerned.
But after the storm passed, we made it through with no problems.
From Huntsville, we drove north 89 miles to the Natchez Trace Thousand Trails RV Campground. We found a good site and got all setup.
Then we realized that we had no cell/ internet service. So we packed it up and moved to another spot that had service....but not much.
We stayed here for 8 days. We didn't do too much here, except checking out the Natchez Trace Parkway.
There are quite a few historical sites along the Trace. We stopped at the burial place of Meriwether Lewis. There is lots of history in this area.
Then we were off to visit another new state for us....Kentucky!
We stopped at a Harvest Host site, the Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin, KY.
We had some pretty good pizza there, and a bourbon flight,
Another good Harvest Host stop over
The Fergs out .......
