Thunderbird Resort, Monroe, WA - July 3, 2014

We were in no hurry to leave Diamond Point Resort in Sequim. This is a nice park. Diamond Point is a KM park and we are members. We can stay in any of the 8 parks in Washington for 2 weeks at a time at no cost. We were going to break up the drive to the Thunderbird Thousand Trails park in Monroe and stop overnight at another KM park, the Travel Inn in Elma, WA. Then the park office came and found us and informed us that they are now enforcing the rule that you have to be out of the KM system for a week before staying at another KM park. Horse puckey! That seals the decision to get rid of our KM membership. Our plan B was to overnight at the Tulalip Casino.

We had a great time exploring the Olympic Peninsula. But we were on the road by 9:00AM. It was going to be an easy 156 mile drive to our next stop at the Tulalip Casino in Marysville, WA.

After traveling over the Tacoma Narrows Toll Bridge and paying our $10.50, we made good time on I-5 through Tacoma. Google maps showed 'Red' traffic conditions on I-5 through Seattle so we went around on I-405. The trip went well and we made it to the Tulalip Casino with no problems. It is a good, safe place to spend a night or two.

We opened up our slides and put the Tailgator out. With our inverter on, we had all the comforts of a FHU park. There was an 'Tribal' fireworks stand behind the casino and they kept 'testing' their wares all day long. But it all stopped at 10 PM.

A good boondock stop.

The next morning we were heading on to Monroe, only a 31 mile drive. We got checked in to the Thunderbird by 11 AM and found a parking spot along the river.

Our big window has a great view of the river, with fishing boats and inner-tubers floating by.

We don't have a sewer hookup, but our Tailgator is picking up the local TV channels and we are glad to find a place to spend the 4th of July weekend. We will be watching our 2 grandsons in nearby Mill Creek while Tim & Shannon take a mini vacation to Las Vegas.

After updating our web page (www.thefergs.com) with our current location, where we have been, a photo of our camping spot, and statistics, I logged onto RVillage and checked us into our current park. Then I looked at the map locations of some of our RVillage friends and saw that Debbie and Steve are just up the road (59 miles) at Dash Point State Park. We have never met them, but we feel connected through the RV-Dreams Forum where we all hang out online. We are going to meet them in person at the up coming RV-Dreams Rally in Goshen, IN this coming September. But since we were so close.... we had to stop by and say 'Hi'.

They have just been 'Full Time' RVing for 4 days now. We drove to Dash Point State Park and found them.

We did a lot of talking and could have continued on for some time, but we both had places to be. It was a very good visit. We will see them again along the way to Indiana, and  then at the rally for sure.

Their Montana 5th wheel was beautiful too.

What a great lifestyle!

And the weather here is great too!

  1. It was such a nice to surprise to meet you and Donna in person!! What a treat! Perhaps we'll run into each other again as we both criss cross the states on our way to the rally! Thanks again for driving so far to come see us.
