Sunday, the 2nd, we moved north 50 miles to Oroville, CA where 2 of Donna's brothers live. On the way, I saw a Chevron station with a CAT scale and thought it was a good time to get our rig weighed. This will be the first since getting our new truck and also since hitting the road back in Sept of 2013, 6 months ago tomorrow!
I weighed the rigs with 3/4 tank of diesel, empty black and grey tanks, and a 2/3 full fresh water tank. The numbers were as follows:
The complete rig
Truck front axle - 4540 lbs my truck's front GAWR is 5600.
Truck rear axle - 7360 lbs my truck's rearGAWR is 7050.
RV axles - 13380 lbs
Total truck weight - 11900 lbs my truck's GVWR is 11500.
Rig total weight - 25280 lbs my truck's GCWR is 24500.
Truck only
Front axle - 4760 lbs
Rear axle - 3700 lbs
Truck total - 8460 lbs
OK...we are over a bit.
Front axle ...Good
Rear axle . over by 310 lbs
Truck GVW . over by 400 lbs
Truck GCW . over by 780 lbs
Trailer GVW . over by 820 lbs
Time to clean the closets. Maybe go on a diet too. LOL!
We have some good ideas on what to purge.
Like they say...If you haven't touched it in 6 months, do we really need it?
This move we just made was the first time we had to break down, drive, and setup in the rain. Darn this California drought!
Here we are parked next to Donna's brother's house. Moochdocking.
A big thanks to Larry and Barb for their hospitality.
Since Larry's stroke back in October of 2012, he has come a long way. Lots of physical therapy.
He was so happy to see Donna again.
Yesterday, Monday, it was overcast and cloudy all day. We use the inverter in the morning and evening. Our battery pack got down to a 82% State Of Charge (SOC). The sun was just plain gone. So I got out the Honda and topped off the batteries. Glad we got the generator for times like these.
Tuesday, March 4th... Donna's birthday!! And it stopped raining. It sure got wet around here. Lake Ferguson. We should get the Sea Eagle SE 370 kayak out. :)
For her birthday, I'm taking her to town to pick up her sewing machine that has finally been repaired. Whoopie!
OK, just kidding.
Batteries are charging via the sun today. The panels are laying flat and still charging at 18.5 amps, 242 watts. The rain is suppose to stop for a few days. Next year we are staying south for a little longer where it is warmer before moving on.
We are loving our life.
Good idea to weigh the rig. What to purge? Happy Birthday to Donna! Are you going through OR/WA later on?
ReplyDeleteWe will be moving north on Hwy 101 through Oregon sometime between March 7 - April 3. Then we will be all over Washington till we head for SD/IN at the end of July..
DeleteWe will be in WA the first week of July through the 10th or so. Maybe the 4 of us will cross paths eventually.
DeleteHappy belated birthday Donna! We will start heading north in about a week too. We have an appointment at Guaranty RV on the 26th. Maybe our paths will cross again.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
