Florence, OR - March 20, 2014

Donna has finally completed all the Good Sam vests she had volunteered to make. Fifty in all. We will hand them over to the club at a campout in Ellensburg, WA in April. She (we) are so glad that they are completed.

Exploring Florence. OR

There are some nice beaches here. Oregon coast is pretty rugged and there are cool, giant rock formations protruding all along the beaches. Here around Florence are many sand dunes. Lots of ATV and ORV activity here, and some pretty, sandy beaches too.

Florence is small, but has a nice Fred Meyer and Safeway here. Which covers about all we needed to pick up. We visited 'Old Town' Florence. The town is just a couple of miles down Hwy 101 and across the Siuslaw River. Across a really cool bridge.

There are these old type bridges all along Hwy 101. There are also 53 covered bridges in the state. We do want to visit some while we are in Oregon.

In Old Town, we walked around and checked out all the touristy shops.

And of course, had to take advantage of a few 'photo ops'.

This part of town has some nice old style renovated buildings along with all the shops.

And right along the docks is one of our favorite seafood places to eat... Mo's.

We had to have lunch here. Great clam chowder.

It was a good day to get out and walk around.

Tomorrow we travel north some more.

Stay tuned...

  1. We aren't too far behind you! We spent yesterday in Cave Junction visiting Barb's grandmother. Tomorrow we pick up our rig at AM Solar in Springfield then head over to Coos Bay.

    1. Enjoy your solar. I bought ours from AM Solar too and I installed it. Love it. Mill Casino in North Bend is very good (campground). Only $17.00/night at the internet price.. We are heading north to Newport tomorrow.
      Drive safe.
