On October 8th, we went to Tim's house and celebrated his 46th birthday. Actually it is the 9th, but this night we BBQ 'ed, ate cake, and played Mexican Train dominos. Yes, I let him win that night.
Then the next day, the 9th, we all went out to a great Mexican restaurant in Monroe for his birthday feast with lots of other family. Good food, and fun times.
Then on the 10th, we were finally off on our own. Heading down the highway! It was good to leave Tall Chief RV Park. It was really wooded there and there were lots of stinkbugs there that were always trying to get into our RV. And after 2 weeks there....some did. More on that later...
Our plan was to head to the Vancouver area and visit with our daughter Candy, her son Erik & family, then head pretty much straight to Yuma since we have been this way many times and we wanted to pickup a few things in our mini-storage in Yuma, and then take our time heading toward Texas...and beyond.
It was just 194 miles to the Elks lodge in Vancouver and we stayed there 2 days. 30 Amp power and water for $25.00 a night. WE enjoyed visiting with Candy, Erik, Elizabeth, and little Elijah. I BBQ 'ed chicken on our Blackstone and we got all caught up. I think we talked Candy into flying to TX or FL to visit us while we are there. Erik & family are moving to Michigan and we will plan on seeing them in the spring.
Our site at the Vancouver Elks.
The next leg was 217 miles to the Wildhorse Casino near Pendleton, OR. Been there many times and it is a great place to stop for the night. One night there. Boondocking for free.
Then it was on for another 261 miles to the Elks Lodge in Mountain Home, ID. Again, another place we have been to many times. We were the only one there in their RV parking area. I donated 20 bucks for the 50 amp & water site. Another one night stop.
We were going to boondock overnight in the Love's parking lot in Wells, NV, but it was going to get cold at night at this heigh elevation, so we continued on and camped at the Valley View RV Park in Ely, NV. It was a 346 mile driving day and we got nice full 50 amp hookup site for $40.86 with Good Sam discount. And we just were there one night.
The next day, we thought about stopping at Boulder Beach Campground by Boulder City, NV, but decided to continue on to the Avi Casino in Laughlin and boondock in their parking lot. We have stayed there many times also...but this time, the fences were up and no more free boondocking at their casino. Moving down to plan C, we headed across the Colorado river into Fort Mohave, AZ and decided to stay at the Riverside Adventure Trails RV Park there. This is a RPI park for us. We have stayed here many times also. We decided to rest a bit and paid the $10.00 per night RPI rate for 2 nights. A 358 mile driving day.
The last leg of our trip was to Yuma. The drive was 205 miles. This whole trip has been un-eventful. Just the way we like it. Cruizin' along with Sirius/XM radio playing and watching the miles fly by. We got parked at the Desert Paradise RV Park in Yuma. This is a Thousand Trails Trails Collection park for us and we decided to stay here for 5 days. It is full hookups and free with out membership.
While here in Yuma, we visited our mini-storage twice. Doing a little purging and picking up a few needed things, caught up on our laundry here at the park, and even went out to dinner at our favorite place ... Texas Roadhouse.
Now, we are still finding stinkbugs in our RV from our 2 weeks at Tall Chief in Washington. Every stop on our southward trip, we have killed 5 to 9 of the little monsters. Yes, every stop!
Here in Yuma, it has been in the 90s everyday and I was hoping the bugs would get out of our RV and enjoy the AZ trees and bushes. Well, if I keep killing bugs everyday, then there are fewer and fewer of them... right. We shall see how it goes.
Tomorrow, we are off again and are heading to Texas. The plan is Texas throughout this year, then maybe towards Florida in January.
On the road again in the morning..
The Fergs out .......
That's funny. As I was reading your blog, I was thinking "he's going to find stink bugs for weeks". Then at the end of you post, there it was! 😂
ReplyDeleteSad to hear about the Avi Casino since we have boondocked there ourselves. Really unhappy the stink bugs have made it to Washington state. Anyway safe travels. We are at our place in Mesa for the winter.
