Idyllwild RV Resort, Idyllwild, CA - October 24, 2016

From Menifee, we took Highway 74 to Highway 243, up, up, up. I have never driven our RV up such a nasty road. Narrow, rocky outcropping, on-coming taffic, and steep! It seemed to go on forever. The travel day was just 43 miles, but what a drive it was!

The Thousand Trails park (our last one in California), is very wooded and hilly. The place is ok, but the road here is such that we won't be back. But we had to visit them all.

It turns out that some friends of ours, Terri & Mark, are volunteering at a Christian camp just down the road in Idyllwild. And some more good friends, Nancy & Steve, were close by and came up to visit too.

We met them all at the Christian Fellowship Rally in Quartzsite that we all attend each year. We all got together and went out for some Mexican lunch at La Casita in Idyllwild.

Idyllwild is a little touristy town way up here in the mountains. Lots of cool little shops and stuff. This place had great food too. We all had a great time catching up.

Then back to our campsite we went to watch the Seahawks game.

The next day, it pretty much rained the whole time, with thunder and lightning too! We were going to go into town and walk around chcking out the shops. Instead, we tinkered around all day inside the rig. I did do a walk-about between squalls.

Here is this park.

The check in station.

The Welcome Center.

We are so far up, that there are cell and radio towers around us.

Up, up.

The lodge.

The country store.

Amphitheater.

The full hook up area.

Some of the roads were just scary.

A good site, if you wanted to park downhill.

These trees wanted to reach our and get me.

There we are.

The closed pool.

Coming down from the upper area. 7200 ft. elevation!

Our spot.

Travel day tomorrow. We are heading to the Palm Springs area. We are ready to leave the cold, wet woods!
