Samboree, Moochdocking, and Over The Mountains

The last couple of days at the Good Sam Samboree, we partook in the craft/flea market sale. Donna sold quite a bit of her sewing stuff and I sold (and gave away) all the stuff I cleaned out of our basement and storage unit. I can't wait to get the rigs weighed and see how we did.

While Donna manned the sales table, I joined my fellow Appleland Sams in the bean bag baseball tournament. And....

We won!!

Here is our winning team.

There was a people parade at the Samboree. The theme this year was 'Clowning Around'. My brother Jim and his wife Eileen got all dressed up.

And were in the parade.

We just watched..and took pictures. Lots of goofy looking folks in there.

The Samboree ended Sunday and after all the goodbyes, we packed up and headed to East Wenatchee, a 78 mile move.

We were scheduled to have our RV wheel bearings repacked in the morning at Les Schwab's. We decided to moochdock in the parking lot of our church. I made sure that it was ok from 2 of the pastors and that there was nothing planned that evening.

Here is our old church - the Eastmont Community Church (Free Methodist).

With us parked just around the corner.

While we were there, Pastor Jeff and his wife Annie came by to visit. And friends Carolyn and Donetta too! We love our church family.

Monday morning, we were parked in the Les Schwab working area to get the wheel bearings packed. We had them do it last October just before heading south.

While he had the wheel off, I poked my head in to see if all was ok. He said they normally do wheel bearing repacks every three years, depending on mileage. He said mine still looked good (brakes too) and put it all back together and said.... good to go for another year. No charge!

It is a good to know that everything is in working order, especially the brakes.

So off we headed. We decided to head over the mountains on the North Cascades Scenic Highway. This is Highway 20 over the most rugged and beautiful Cascade mountain range.

After 100 miles, we passed through Winthrop, a western themes tourist town, and from there, up, up, up. The truck performed great. I heard the transmission cooling fan come on a couple of times.
We stopped on top of Washington Pass, elevation 5,477 feet, to take some pictures.

We passed many trail heads, including the Pacific Crest Trail,  and turquoise mountain rivers.

We came upon the North Cascades National Park Visitor Center.

Yea! Another National Park to check off our bucket list.

Whoa! That entrance bridge looks not too RV friendly.

Not knowing what is over there, we backed up and will come back after we get parked. It is only another 35 miles to our camping spot. It will have to be tomorrow.

After a 215 mile trip, we arrived at Grandy Creek Campground. It is a KOA and Thousand Trails. Using our TT membership, we will stay here for the next 2 days.

Nice place. Lots of trees, but easy enough to get parked.

Our spot..site # 119.

Our Tailgator even found us the local tv channels.

Exploring tomorrow.
