Some New States - The Oaks At Point South - Yemassee, SC - February 22, 2023

We left the big Golf Resort and had a pretty long travel day. It was 279 miles, but it just seemed long.

Before we knew it, we were leaving Florida

And entering a new state for us ... Georgia.

We were in no hurry, because we were going to stop at a Harvest Host location in Richmond Hill, GA called The Debellation Brewing Company. We arrived around 3 PM and there were 4 other RVs there already.

We partook of the food truck there and I had a good burger, and Donna had chicken strips. And of course, we had some good craft beers.

That night there were 7 RVs there. It was a good overnight stop.

The next day, we were off again. This time it was just a 60 mile move day, and another new state ... South Carolina.

Our next stop was at The Oaks At Point South near Yemassee, SC. This is an Encore park which we don't have in our memberships, but we sat through a sales presentation a few weeks ago and they gave us a certificate for 2 free nights at any Encore park, so here we are.

The next day, we checked out the area and stopped at the Lowcountry Visitor's Center where they have the Frompton Plantation, museum, gift shop, and visitor center. It was a really cool old mansion surrounded by very old and large Oak trees. It was full of Civil War history, and even had some of the movie props from the Forest Gump movie. Pretty cool

Awesome giant Oaks.

Spanish Moss everywhere.

Like a history museum.

The shrimp boat, 'Jenny', and Forest Gump's suitcase.

Here is our travel map including the 2 new states, Georgia and South Carolina.

Moving day tomorrow!

Our Last Stop In Florida - Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort - Clermont, FL - February 19, 2023

After 6 boondocking days at Monument Lake Campground, we moved back up north 165 miles to Peace River RV Resort. We left here just a week ago and now we are back for 3 days. Just long enough to enjoy some campground power, and get the laundry done.

Right next to our our spot.

Our northward journey has now begun. Another 90 miles north and we stopped at Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort near Clermont, FL. Besides the really nice golf course all through the park, this place is the largest RV park we have stayed at. It has 1250 RV sites here, the golf course, and all the recreation amenities.

We were in site # 1130.

Quite a nice place. It is a Trails Collection park, through our Thousand Trails membership and we wanted to stay a little longer here, but could only reserve 2 nights here. A pretty popular park. We could have stayed 2 weeks at a time for free with our membership, but 2 days...it is what it is. Besides, we are ready to visit and camp in some new states.

Tomorrow, we are heading to Georgia to a nice Harvest Host location just outside Savannah.

Moving right along...

Happy Valentines Day - Monument Lake Campground - Ochopee, FL - February 14, 2023

It is Valentines Day here at Monument Lake Campground. We hope you all have a good one! Tomorrow we will move on again. In the last few days, we have knocked 3 more items off our bucket list. First one was a visit to the Everglades National Park. We went to the Shark Valley Visitor center. We learned all about the Everglades, (who knew it was a lake, not a swamp) bought some post cards for the grandkids and a magnet for us. We also walked the nature trails and saw lots of critters.

Then we went to the Everglades Safari Park and took an air boat tour. It also includes a nature trail and wildlife show. We saw many more of the critters here.

Then we took a long drive to the Florida Keys. We left in the dark at 0530 on the morning and drove the 190 miles to Key West along Highway 1, the intercoastal highway. It was a beautiful day and saw lots of touristy stuff. We parked at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and walked all over, seeing the cruise ships, Coast Guard ships, and Fort Zachary Taylor. Then we drove through the really busy touristy area of the buoy that signifies the most Southern point in the continental United States. There was a massive line of people to get their photo taken in front of the buoy. We just snapped a few pics as we drove by....good enough for us. Even though is was a long drive, it was worth it to us. We enjoyed the sights, and we were there.

Anyone remember the movie 'True Lies"?

Lots and lots of Keys.

Oh Really!!!

Big boat!

The famous Key West chickens.

Tons of people around the buoy.

As close as we got!

Quite the little town!

Tomorrow is the beginning of our trip back to Washington. It will be fairly slow and we plan to stay in 18 new states along the way and knock off a few more bucket list items too!
