Unusually high temperatures here in southern California, and we are loving it. The 5 days we were in the Palm Springs area was nice. We really enjoy the things to see and do there, but it was time to move a little more northward.
After a 130 mile drive, we checked into the Thousand Trails park, Soledad Canyon. This is our second time here, and we got all setup in the 'N' section that is located on a little plateau. This loop in high enough that we have good phone/internet service.
The temps were in the mid 80's all 5 days we were here.
We met Pat & Ellen the first day here. They stopped by after seeing us checked in via RVillage. They are new fulltimers and are from Washington also. Ellen is from East Wenatchee. Pretty cool!
Just up the road, 14 miles, is Palmdale. It is a good sized town and has all the shopping opportunities you would need, Walmart, Costco, hardware stores, and brewpubs.
On Monday, we saw a big plane in the distance, toward the Palmdale airport. It was pretty big and I thought it might be an old space shuttle. We had to take a look. It wasn't a space shuttle, it was a Boeing 747, parked right next to a B-52.
The place is the Blackbird Airpark. There were a lot of cool planes there. A U-2 Spy Plane, A-12, SR-71, D-21 Drone, and a couple of Stealth aircraft. And many more through out the park area. But .. the place was closed. The Sign said closed Mon-Thurs. Rats! With no parking all along the road and no place to pull over, no pictures. OK ..We will be back to this place!
Today, we move on. Towards Bakersfield and maybe on to Visalia. The traveling weather is perfect.
Fergs ..... out!
