Palm Springs Thousand Trails - Palm Desert, CA - March 7, 2017

We packed up and left La Posa South on Donna's birthday, March 4th. Her birthday present is full hookups, warm weather, and a 'date night' out in the big city. We dumped and were on the road by 9 Am. We decided to top off the RV gas tank and take advantage of Arizona gas prices. It was $2.24 a gallon, but I'm sure it will be higher in California. It was a nice drive of 130 miles to the Thousand Trails park in Palm Desert, CA. We had been here several times before. We got all set up

I then took Donna out for her birthday. We first went to the Firehouse Pub in Palm Desert. It didn't look like what we wanted, after Googling some brewpubs in the area, we headed for the Coachella Valley Brewing Co in Thousand Palms. It looked like they had some good taps, but no food. We moved on. We just wanted to go for a burger and brew somewhere nice. Then we headed to a place called Burgers & Beer (go figure) in La Quinta. Now this worked out great. They had good .. burgers & beer (go figure)! Happy birthday to my wonderful bride!

Beause we finally have full hook ups, I finally got to turn on the Reverse Osmosis water system I installed about a month ago. Hey! It is working out pretty good! We also got to try out our new dryer that we bought and installed last month. Hey! It are working out good also!

After a day of cleaning the desert dust out of the RV and catching up on laundry, we hit the big stores, Walmart and Costco, stocking up on needed items. Then we headed out to check out the area. We have been here several times, and a trip down El Paseo Drive is always fun. Of course we made this trip to play Pokemon Go as we went. It was a good spot to do that too!

One day, we headed south a bit and drove by the Salton Sea area. It was a first for us. Always like exploring new areas.

The 'Sea".

But, the surrounding area is pretty 'dumpy'.  It is always good to explore the areas first without the RV.

Then it was on to Anza Borrego Desert State Park. We had always wanted to see what's up here. Today was the day! We got to check out some of the Boondocking spots in the area.

and the town of Borrego Springs. They had a nice city park and some cool metal art sculptures.

We stopped at the Visitor's Center and wandered through out the center. They have a nice museum and movie too. Then walked to nature trail enjoying the blooming desert vegetation.

This will be a place to return to again. This time to bookdock and explore the trails here.

While here, we visited several of their parks here. Our favorite was the Civic Center park in Palm Desert. Lots of walkways and sculptures, and bird, ducks, and turtles. Very pretty.

Besides our new dryer and RO system working as they should, we also installed reflective insullation in the back of all of our cabinates that are on the outside of our coach.

This keeps the cabnate cool in hot weather. Workes pretty good!

I also finished installing Windows 7 on my notebook. Windows 10 was giving me fits!. So I upgraded (down-graded?) to something that works so much better for me. It was a lot of work. After backing up everything to an external hard drive, then installing some software and adding my working files, I am much happier now. Call me old fashioned, but it works for me!

It is suppose to get into the 90s in a couple of days..... but hey! we have electricity now....and AC. Nice...

Soon, it will be time to wander a few more miles northwestward.

Our slow NW migration has started.

Fergs ..... out!
