Yuma, AZ - October 23, 2017

Leaving Casa Grande, we drove 128 miles west on Interstate 8, to Tacna where we stopped at Copper Mountain RV Park. We have been here before and stopped this time to visit with Karen & Cliff (my sister). We saw Cliff's brother, Wayne & Sharon also as they were there too. We had a good visit. Just a quick stop, one night. A good stopping place, FHU for 28.81. This is Veterans discount plus tax.

Then bright & early the next day, we headed further west a whoppin' 29 mile drive, to the Foothills area of Yuma. Bev & Tim, who just bought a place here, invited us to park at their house.

So we are moochdocking here in Yuma for a bit. Don't know how long we will be here, but their place has 2 spots with RV hookups and it is pretty hot here at the present time, so we are enjoying the company ... and our AC.

We have finally made it to our winter spot. Between here in Yuma, Quartzsite, or maybe even southern California, we are here for the winter.

Not missing the snow and cold weather...for sure!

Rover's Roost RV Park, Casa Grande, AZ - October 19, 2017

Our 10 days here in Casa Grande are coming to an end. It has been a good stop. The temps were in the 90s everyday. Thank God for our 2 AC units. The price was right too. We paid for a week ($90.00) and the special gave us 3 extra days. We do pay for the electricity we use, so we will find out what that is in a couple of days.

The only downside of being here, is that in the evening, it stinks! It must be an upper air movement causing some cow dairy somewhere to innundate us with the smell. After a week, we are kinda getting used to it ... almost. Some days are worse than others.

Casa Grande is actually a pretty good sized city. They have all the restaurants and shopping you could want. It is a nice clean area.

Last weekend, we drove into Tempe for their Oktoberfest.

The drive wasn't bad, Tempe is a cool city, and the park was nice. Not much of an Oktoberfest though. There was a carnival going on, some craft tents, and a band was playing. Not too German, I thought. They just wanted to sell you beer (American beer).

We did partake and bought a tasting punch card for $20.00. We shared the eight 4 ounce tastings between us. I enjoyed the Four Peaks Oktoberfest and Donna liked the Pumkin Porter.

I also have been getting my Medicare health insurance in order for 2018. I have gotten mine figured out, but we don't know what is in store for Donna this next year. I'm sure that costs are going up. It is a real pain.

Our friends, Tim & Bev drove over from Yuma and spent one night visiting us here in the park. We will see them again in a few days. We are heading towards Yuma Saturday. We plan on stopping one night at the Copper Mountain RV Park in Tacna to visit my sister. She and Cliff are working there again this year.

Looking forward to a little cooler weather.

Leaving the Balloon Fiesta on Day 4, Now in Casa Grande, AZ - October 11, 2017

The balloons all took off again on Tuesday, the 10th. This was day 4 of the festival. I took a picture of the mass of balloons overhead (last one, I promise) as we were packing up and getting ready to head out.

We actually cut short our stay here. We did 2 nights just down the road at the Route 66 Casino, and 4 more at balloon field. We saw all we wanted to in Albuquerque and the balloon festival and decided to head out a day early.

South on Interstate 25, and across on highway 26 to Deming, NM. A 250 mile travel day. Weather was perfect, no wind and temps in the 60s.

We decided to stop at the Escapee park in Deming, Dream Catcher RV Park. This was a good stop on the way to Yuma. $20.39 for a nice FHU spot.

We dumped our tanks after boondocking 4 days, and Donna did laundry while we were there, and that's just about it.

In the morning, we headed further west towards Yuma.

Entering Arizona.

Our plan was to stop for a couple of days at the Del Sol Casino in Tucson and boondock in their parking lot. But the temps were going to be around 96 degrees. I think our cats (and us) might find that a little uncomfortable, so we went to plan B. We chose the Escapee park in Casa Grande just off Interstate 8, Rover's Roost. We had never been there, and they had a special deal for first time visitors. $90.00 for a week and you get 3 additional days (plus taxes and electricity). So we will do 10 days here. They were very friendly as we got checked into space 22.

We have both AC units on and we are happy ... so are our cats.

Going to go explore the Casa Grande area tomorrow.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Day 3, Albuquerque, NM - October 10, 2017

Yesterday was festival day 3. Saturday and Sunday was opening weekend and there were things happening all day, each day. Now Monday, just a few things happening in the morning. The wind was blowing away from our RV parking lot again so I walked to balloon field and took my last pics of the balloons.

OK .... I'm done taking balloon pictures now.

Then Donna and I went to check out the Balloon Museum. Pretty amazing! The place was big and packed with balloon history and stuff.

Well worth the admission ($6.00). A great museum.

Then we headed off to another museum I wanted to see, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. This place was awesome! It had everything from splitting the atom, the Manhatten Project, the bombs created and used over Japan, to military uses of nuclear technology, and medical uses as well. It had everything you can think of that benefitted from the nuclear discoveries. I especially liked the outdoor aircraft displays.

Los Alamos lab

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs

Trinity bomb

B-29

B52

B-47

Two cool museums in one day. How cool is that!

Colder weather is comming and we have seen about all we have came to see, so we are leaving Albuquerque this morning.

Continuing southward.
