Seaside to Florence, Caregiving - Florence, OR - June 30, 2017

We left the Seaside Thousand Trails after just an overnight stop. It is a nice area and even though we have been here several times, it never gets old walking down the Promanade and checking out the shops and do some people watching.

After getting hooked up to move, we back tracked a little to Warrenton and the Costco there. We gassed up the RV and Jeep for just $2.35 a gallon.

Heading down Highway 101, we came upon a detour just north of Tillamook. It was about a 15 mile drive around a bridge being redone. The road was 2 lane, narrow, bumpy, and the tight curves re-arranged several of our cabinates! And the bicycles we came upon ... near misses! It was nuts!

Then we got back on Highway 101 and as we entered Tillamook, we pulled into their temporary visitor center parking lot.... and it was full. No place to park. Dang! I was ready to do some serious cheese sampling.

We didn't do any stopping along the many turnouts to do some picture taking, but the views as we drove was beautiful.

We arrived at the Florence Thousand Trails around 2 PM and found a 30 amp FHU site.

After getting all setup, we headed over to Donna's brother, Gene's house. We are here to care for him while he gets his strength back after a bad viral infection. We are happy to help him out, and the weather here is great. We love this area so I think we will enjoy our time here.

Here is Donna and Gene on the first day.

This is his house. On the 4th of July, the Thousand Trails RV Park is full up and we have to move out. Gene says we can do some moochdocking in his driveway. Cool!!

We had a couple of RV Dreamer friends, Jim & Diana, who were workamping out at Heceta Head Lighthouse. I read on Facebook, that they were finishing up their month there, and the next day I headed out to the lighthouse to see if I could find them. I got there and talked to one of the volunteers there and they said they were heading out that morning, about an hour ago. Rats! Missed them. Oh well, we will hook up somewhere down the road. In the mean time, here are my lighthouse pictures.

We have been at Gene's everyday. Cooking and eating with him. The other day, we took him to a doctor appointment and then to physical therapy. It is slow, but he is getting better.

His house is only a couple of blocks from the Old Town bayfront. I have been getting my 10K steps in everyday walking around the touristy dock area. Just a block down the street, is the bay.

Then you are right on the old town bayfront strip.

Things are picking up around here. There is a lot of stuff going on around here this 4th of July weekend.

Loving the coast!

Fergs .... out!

The welcome center is the entrance to the south section of the park. The south section is 30 amp, FHU sites.

There is a mini golf area and the adult lodge on this side.

Across from the welcome center entrance, is the entrance to the north side area.

At the end of the road, is the tent section and activity area'

This section is 50 amp FHU sites, tent area, cabins, pool, and family lodge.

A great family lodge, pool area, and common areas.

The location of this park is great. Lots to do in the area. The park has 210 FHU sites. Good Verizon cell/internet service.

Another one of our favorite parks on the Oregon coast.

We will galdly come back here.
