You know how RVers and their travel plans and routes can change at the drop of a hat? Well, we shook the Jello these last couple of days.
We left the Lake of the Springs Thousand Trails park and had planned on traveling to the Elks lodge in Redding, CA, a 124 mile move. Well, the drive went fast and the weather was nice and clear. The weathermen said a storm was going to hit that afternoon and so we made a quick change. We had never been to the Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, OR and heard it was nice. There was no rain yet and I really didn't want to travel over the Siskiyou Mountains in the rain... or snow! And hey! The Elks lodge would be $25.00 a night and the casino would be free. Let's go for it.
The drive was not bad at all. A few sprinkles as we crested the pass. The mountains were beautiful. It started raining as we passed through Grants Pass. We arrived at the casino about 5 PM. We got situated in their parking lot and popped out a couple of our slides. It was a 355 mile day.
I checked out the casino a little. Not a bad looking place. But we just wanted to rest overnight and move on in the morning. It started raining pretty good all night.
About 8 in the morning, the rain stopped and the sun came out. So off we went.
Now the plan was to stop in Sutherlin at the Escapee park, Timber Valley. Was!!
This drive was just 38 miles. As we were approaching Sutherlin, I thought, if we go another 83 miles, we could stay at the Thousand Trails park, South Jetty. I pulled over and jumped on my computer. I changed our reservation and upped the arrival day by 2 days. Cool! Jello shook!
We stopped in Reedsport, on Highway 101, and gassed up at $2.54/gal. We got 6.9 mpg this last tank. Then headed on north to Florence and South Jetty Thousand Trails Resort.
So today we travelled 121 miles, but we plan on staying here for a couple of weeks.
We had been here a couple of years ago. I will do another blog TT review soon of this place. We found a good FHU site. Pretty wooded, green, and wet.
Can't wait to go explore the beaches, and old town Florence. Donna's brother, Gene, moved here from Fort Mohave, AZ a few months ago. It will be good to visit him too!
Lots to do and see here.
The Fergs .... out!
Nice post, do you use google maps? I found a blog about on how to use google maps to plan travel itinerary
