Our four nights we spent in Yellowstone have been perfect. We had one full day to check out the Grand Tetons, and two full days to do Yellowstone. We were in the Grant Village campground and really enjoyed the place. It didn't get too hot during the day, and nice and cool at night.
Since we have been here several times before, this time we chose some things we wanted to re-visit or spend more time at. The first day, we left Grant Village and headed to the Midway Geyser Basin. The Grand Prismatic Spring was here. Then we stopped at Biscuit Basin and did the Fairy Falls hike, and we were able to see the Grand Prismatic Spring from above. Pretty cool!
Then after stopping at Black Sand Basin, we pulled into the Old Faithful area. There we toured the Yellowstone Lodge and Visitor Center. That was a full day of checking out springs, pools, and geysers. Our legs were sore and we were ready for our campfire.
The second day, we were off to the Canyon Village area and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We took the North Rim Road, and the South Rim Road. We hiked down to both the Upper and Lower Falls and along the canyon rim. A beautiful area and lots of walking. On our way back to the campground, we stopped off to see the Sulphur Caldron and the Mud Volcano. We also had to wait for a herd of buffalo to cross the road. We stopped off at the Fishing Bridge Museum and Visitor Center. Then back to our rig.
At our campground, we walked a trail and came upon a huge Cow Elk. Real close! Cool! Other wildlife we have seen on this trip have been Pronghorn Antelope, Bison, Deer, a Fox, Elk, and lots of birds. We didn't see any Moose or Bear. Oh, and a ton of tourists! We have crossed the Continental Divide several times, enjoyed the beautiful mountains, the cool fresh air, and had a wonderful time.
Speaking of time... time to unleash the pictures we took. I narrowed it down to 82!
