Elks Lodge #1087, Idaho Falls, ID - September 3, 2017

There is a lot of freedom in this fulltime RV lifestyle. Plans change and you can alter your travel plans pretty easily ... usually.

Our main goal, this trip south for the winter, was to go to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October. We had to make reservations for that, and we did. We also wanted to go through the National Parks in Utah. Again, reservations are usually needed, and We did make reservations at Moab and Panguitch. From there we will go to the 5 national parks. I had made reservations for Yellowstone because we would be there during part of the Labor Day weekend. We also have reservations for the Grand Canyon just before Albuquerque. And I made reservations at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park. So there are a few stops that we were just going to wing it and hope we could fit into. One of these times was this stop.

After leaving Yellowstone and heading south in Idaho,

we had planned a stop at the Elks Lodge in Idaho Falls. They only have 4 RV spots and each one has electrical. We would need power as the temps were going to be in the upper 90s. So as we were getting close to Idaho Falls, I started formulating some plan Bs just in case.

We arrived to see only 2 RVs here. Now this is Saturday of the Labor Day weekend and this place is right next to a golf course. Bingo! For $10.00, we get 50 amps too!

We had planned on 2 nights here.

Here we are at the Elks Lodge in Idaho Falls, ID.

We had planned on just a stop and nothing else here. Today, we went to Walmart to stock up, and then to a laundrymat to do laundry. We are going to use our dryer in the RV. But on the way home, we checked out the river front area.

They have a beautiful park area along the Snake River. Real nice bike path too! And now I see why this city is called Idaho Falls.

Our pics...

These cool buildings were around a traffic circle on the way to the river.

They really fixed up this area.

Pretty cool place!

Tomorrow, we have some reservations, and have already paid for, at Antelope Island State Park near Salt Lake City. I made these because we have friends who stayed there and it looked like a good place to stop before the Elks Lodge in Provo. Problem..the temps there are forecasted to be 97, 95, 96, and 95 when we would be there. And we are boondocking! I'm thinking we may have to shake the jello a little. There, is one of the problems with making reservations.

We may just cook there one night and then continue on toward Provo and hope there is room for us at the Elks.

Looking forward to cooler weather...

Fergs .... out!
