Fun Times, Lone Rock Beach Campground, Page, AZ - September 30, 2017

Tuesday, the 26th, we headed south followed by Tim & Bev. Our destination, 145 miles away, was Lone Rock Beach Campground where we will boondock for 4 days.

We drove through Kanab

which looks like a nice place to explore, especially if planning a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Maybe next time through.

We arrived at Lone Rock just after noon, paid our $7.00 a night using my Access Pass.

We headed into Page, and stopped off at the Glen Canyon Dam Visitor Center. This place had a really nice museum, gift store, and exhibits inside. They even do tours, but we passed on that.

In Page, besides hitting Walmart to stock up on goods, we stopped at Dixie Ellis Tours and signed up for a Lower Antelope Canyon tour for the next day. It was $25.00 each for us (veteran discount), and $33.00 each for Tim & Bev.

Then we visited Antelope Point. This is a huge marina on Lake Powell. We walked around and looked at the boats, then had lunch at the marina restaurant called The Point.

Thursday, we headed to Lower Antelope Canyon. We had an excellent tour guide, Nicklas. What an awesome experience! You've got to add this to your bucket list. And Dixie Ellis tours did an outstanding job.

The exit.

The other thing we wanted to do while in the area, was to hike over to the Horseshoe Bend viewpoint along the cliffs. Another beautiful area, even with all the tourists.

A couple of other places we visited here were the Glen Canyon National Rec Area visitor center with the dinosaur exhibit. Love dinos.

And the Wahweap Marina, where they have a nice campground, picnic area and lots of boats. Gonna rent a houseboat someday!

It was a good 4 days. The Grand Canyon is next!

Fergs .... out!
