Grand Tetons National Park, Yellowstone NP, WY - August 31, 2017

We left the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, after hitting the dump station and lightening our load. We were on the road at 8:30 AM. Glad to be heading to cooler weather and to a much higher elevation. We did gas up as we left at the Moose Junction gas station along Interstate 90. We had to back track 7 miles to do so. Gas was $2.49 there and because of hurricane Harvey and all the hype about rising fuel prices, we thought we had better top off.

It was a 166 mile move day. South on Highway 287 towards West Yellowstone.

We left the hot dry areas and into the forested mountains.

And through West Yellowstone.

Into Yellowstone National Park, with free access using my Access Pass.

Then just a few miles into the park, we entered Wyoming.

We drove 47 miles through the park, passing Madison Junction, the Old Faithful area, and all the touristy pullouts, to our campground at Grant Village. We will explore later, in the Jeep. We got registered and they told us our campsite number, B-74. We then pulled into the dump station to take on water. Then the thunder and lightning started. Just a little rain too. Then we got all parked and set to boondock here for the next 4 days. $16.17 per night with my pass.

A great big camping spot.

The first evening in the park, we just relaxed.

The next morning, we were off to visit the Grand Teton National Park just south of Yellowstone.

First is the ole' Park Sign' photos.

Then we proceeded to cruise down through the park, stopping at several visitor centers and taking shots of the beautiful mountains.

We drove through the Tetons and into Jackson, WY. Quite a neat little town, lots of cool shops and eaterys. We had lunch at the City Tavern. Pretty good food and brews with a view of the town.

After lunch, we walked around the town. They have a nice city square park.

Before we headed back, we stopped at the visitor center, got our stamp, and looked around.

We also found a geocache here. Our first in Wyoming. We also picked up Montana last week. We now have found a geocache in 24 different states.

Then back to the campground for the evening. We have been to Yellowstone a few times before. This trip was to get our National Park Passport stamps, and see and do some new things.

Yellowstone tommorrow!

Fergs .... out!
