There is more to do and see here in the Newport area than there was in Florence. We are just going to do 3 nights here, so we decided to go exploring.
Our first whole day here, we headed into town to the Yaquina Bay area. There is a nice view of the big bridge, a state park, and a lighthouse here.
The weather wasn't the greatest this day. It sprinkled on and off.
Then we headed to Old Town, the historic waterfront.
Lots of noise coming from that pier.
A pile of Sea Lions!
And a mountain of them.
Break time in the coffee shop.
This is the place I first tried crabbing, 7 years ago.
Lots of pirates in these parts.
The next day, when the rain stopped, we headed up the coast to Lincoln City. The Chamber of Commerce hides some glass ball floats along their 7 miles of beaches everyday. We went in search. The beach area along Siletz Bay, right near Mo's seemed a good place to look for treasure.
No treasures, but a fun day.
Mo's Restaurant.
We got hungry (and thirsty) and headed back to Newport, and the Rogue Brewery.
They have tons of craft beers on tap.
The Newport South Beach area is petty cool.
Besides the brewery, there is the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Hatfield Marine Science Center, and the Aquarium Village Speciality shops. Lots of photo ops here!
This will wrap up our central Oregon coast visit. We have explored the coast from Coos Bay/North Bend, north to Lincoln City. Fun, fun!
We are moving on in the morning. We should be back in Washington tomorrow.
Fergs .... out!
