On Tuesday, the 8th, began the deluge. For the next 4 days, it was indoor weather. Exciting thunderstorms and mass rain for the first two days. Then two more of just rain. The tornados and hail missed us here at Lake Conroe. A little north towards Dallas they got it though. Then it all slowly moved east into Louisiana and Mississippi. Boy did they get it! We used to live in Alabama and Kansas while I was in the Army, and these storms brought back some memories. We are now drying out. It was pretty humid these last few days.
We are going to leave this area tomorrow and start our trek north. We didn't want to head north too soon and encounter cold, and maybe snow, but my Son is going to be out of town for his job, and his wife, Shannon, is going in for some surgery and we wanted to be there to help out with the kids and do whatever we could to help out. So we need to be in Washington by the 1st. That gives us enough time to make the trip without 'killing' us.
This is our planned route and our stops. I use Microsoft Streets & Trips. The map has all of our Thousand Trails campgrounds along with RPI, Escapees, and Elks Lodges, Casinos, boondocking spots, and any other spot along our route that we may have heard about via other RVer blogs.
I also upload our travel plans on an Excel spreadsheet to the web (www.thefergs.com/trips). This way we can bring it up on our phones, en route, and it also contains any reservation confirmations we may need. Also our family can access it to see where we are and when to expect us.
The speadsheet contains Name of stop, what city, Number of nights, dates, mileage between stops, camping fees at each stop, reservation number if any, and what do do at that stop. I also include a monthly total of miles to travel, expected fuel costs, and camping dollars.
Looking forward to moving again. We should be adding 2 new states to our 'States Camped In' total (25), and three new states to the states we have found geocaches in (23).
And some new country to see!
Wow, you certainly have us beat on the states you found geocaches in! I think we are probably at 5-7....
