The Land Of Lincoln, Sunset Lakes Resort, Illinois - August 24-25, 2014

We left the Ho-Chunk Casino RV Park by 7:30 AM. It was gonna be another hot and humid day, so we headed out for our 174 mile move. We could have taken I-39 south and then I-88 West, but that would have been a 256 mile day. I opted for the more direct route using the back roads and highways. We had a good travel day through Wisconsin's countryside and lots of small towns. We saw many really neat old churches and beautiful big old houses, corn and soybean fields.

Then we entered Illinois, the land of Lincoln.

There are no mountains in sight, just a few hills, and everything is so green. The temp got up to 91, but with the high humidity, it felt very hot.

We arrived at Sunset Lakes Resort in Hillsdale, IL around noon.

This is a pretty nice park. It is a RPI park so it will be $30.00 for a 3 nights stay. There are lakes through out the park. Covered with green stuff. No bugs though....thank God!

No swimming, no wading...no kidding!

There is a big community center called 'The Plaza'. It contains a huge pool, Dining Hall, Events kitchen, Mini-Mart, Showers, Laundromat, Fitness Room, and Game Room....and air conditioning!

There is a nice mini-golf course that we will be doing probably tomorrow.

This is our 'street'

And our spot...space 202.

And it was my turn to put the new state sticker on the map. Illinois!

That is 15!

Then we went out and found our first geocache in our new state.

The next day, we headed back into Iowa to Davenport. We crossed the Mississippi River again. We saw some riverboat casinos on the river.

We had lunch at a Red Robin Restaurant. Our Son & daughter in law, Tim & Shannon, had given us a gift card there and we were finally able to use it. I had a Cobb salad and Donna had Clucks and Fries. We tried an Uncommon Stout from the Bent River Brewery. It was good. After lunch, we did a little exploring and shopping, and ended up at the Bent River Brewing Company in Moline, IL.

We shared a 'flight'. Donna tried Oatmeal Stout and the Uncommon Stout. I tried the Jalapeno Pepper Ale and the Raspberry Wheat. She enjoyed hers, but mine sucked. I'm glad they gave us a big glass of water when we arrived.

 I needed it!
