Rapid City Area Fun August 13-14, 2014

We took a day off to do a little work around the house. Donna did laundry and I sanitized our fresh water tank. I also cleaned out the bed of our truck and lubed the hitch.

Then repacked everything that we carry in the bed.

There, nice and organized.

Back to normal.

Wednesday, we started the day finding a geocache.

Then went for a drive along Skyline Drive. It had a beautiful view of the Rapid City area from up on the ridge.

We stopped at Dinosaur Park.

There are 7 life-size concrete dinosaurs there. A good place for some good pictures... and fun.

While at the park, we found a couple more geocaches. A fun day.

A couple of friends we met a few of years ago at a RV-Dreams rally in Oregon arrived here at Hart Ranch. Brock and Nathalie had a pop up camper back then. Now they have a 40 foot toyhauler and travel full time.

Thursday, we headed off to Sturgis.

It was pretty quiet there now.

But just last weekend it wasn't!

We had lunch at the famous Knuckle Saloon.

It had a cool atmosphere, and food too.

Then on to Deadwood.

A neat old town with lots of history.

Here is Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane's gravesite at the Mt Moriah Cemetery. (Also known as Boothill)

Then that evening, we attended a Chuckwagon Supper & Show at Fort Hays. This is where 'Dances With Wolves' was filmed.

The food was good and the show was great, and funny too!

We had a great couple of days.
