San Antonio - Medina Lake RV Resort - February 3-8, 2016

We just finished our week at the Thousand Trails park just outside of San Antonio. We spent one full day in San Antonio seeing the sights. That is of course not long enough. We will come back next year though.

The first stop was the Downtown area. We drove by the Riverwalk, but started at the Alamo.

Then we took a Trolley tour around the San Antonio area. We visited Hemisfair Park and the Tower of Americas's, the home of the 1968 World's Fair, Missions San Jose and Concepcion. Through the King William District and Plaza De Las Islas. Several cathedrals and shopping areas.

We saw the Riverwalk, but we will wait till next time to explore it the way it deserves.

A different tour bus.

Lots to see in San Antonio.

While we were here, we had our mail sent to us and I received some good news from the VA. I have been approved to receive VA health care! That's pretty cool .... I think. We will see. It is nice to know that I get to have a little more benefits after serving 10 years in the Army.

And we were continually surrounded by White Tailed Deer. Millions of them! All around us.

Rumble Bunny kept busy.

And so did Tinker Belle.

They kept watch for us.

All that deer watching can make you tired.

And on our last day here, Sunday, we headed toward New Braunfels and went to the Highpoint Church there.

My old Army buddy and good friend, Orlando Dona (OJ), goes there. And since we were so close, we figured we would surprise him.

And boy, we sure did! He was in shock. We had last seen each other 35 years ago in Germany. I met him as a Private there, and he ended up retiring from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel.

The church, an Aysembly of God was good too. Afterward, we had lunch at the Texas Roadhouse, explored New Braunfels, then went to OJ's house for the Superbowl and dinner.  He is such a great friend. We spent some time catching up.

OJ and Patricia (Trish)

Me and my buddy.

Good times.

Next year, we will spend a lot more time in this area.

We packed up and traveled east on Interstate 10 for 166 miles. We just checked into Colorado River RV Campground. This is also a Thousand Trails park. We plan to do 6 days here.

I'll post pictures of this place on the next update....
