Northward - Ukiah Elks and Kamp Klamath, March 10, 2014

Sunday, March 9th, We drove up the road to the Feather Falls Casino and met up with Garry and Camio for a breakfast buffet. Then said our goodbyes. Then we got our rig ready to travel and said our goodbyes to Larry and Barb.

It has been a good week, visiting with family. But time to move on.

We hit a RV park in Oroville and dumped our tanks and were on the road around 11AM.

Today we were planning a 160 mile move day. Hwy 20 west to Hwy 101, the Redwood Highway. It did start raining about half way there.

Our plan was to stay at the Coyote Valley Casino in Redwood Valley, just as we got on the Hwy 101. Well...no way! The place was a dump. If we boondocked there, I wouldn't feel safe. So...plan B. We headed south on Hwy 101 for 7 miles to Ukiah, and stayed at the Elks Lodge there. For 20 bucks, it was a good thing.

There was a strange tree there that I had to get a picture of.

Kinda normal looking around the bottom.

But the top sure wasn't.

A cell tower in disguise. Kinda...

I gassed up in Ukiah for $3.89 for diesel. Maybe the last time in California.

One night at the Ukiah Elks and we were off by 9 AM in the morning. The weather was beautiful too. We drove up the Redwood Highway enjoying the mountains and trees. We saw the California Redwood trees up close. Right along the skinny, winding road! But I took my half out of the middle a few times and still enjoyed the trip.

We passed lots of tourist attractions along the way. Like the 'drive through tree' the tree house, 'home of bigfoot' and Area 101 (Aliens ???).

We pulled into Kamp Klamath after 226 miles at around 1:45 PM. This is really in the woods. We paid for 3 nights at the Passport America rate.

While here, we will visit the Redwoods National Park, Trees of Mystery, the beaches and more.

It's going to be a nice few days here.

  1. Ha, looks like they ran out of branches for the tree tower! How was the Feather Falls Casino campground? I really like the looks of Kamp Klamath campground. I'll be following closely through OR and WA as we will be headed that way in June.

    1. Feather Falls Casino is nice. They have a cool brewery. The campground is a KOA. Too pricey for us..$44.00 per night! River Reflections RV Park is nice , and good prices too. Kamp Klamath is neat. More pictures today.
