Exploring The Northern Redwood Coast

We are at Kamp Klamath, near Klamath, CA.

Three days here at the Passport America rate, pretty much pays for the membership this year.

I think we are the biggest rig here. It is early in the season.

The staff here is really nice.

During the normal season, they have 'all you can eat' BBQs and live entertainment on this stage.

Here is a new use for an old pop up camper, A chicken coop!!! The manager even gave us a half dozen fresh eggs today!

There are only 2 other RVs here. Nice and peaceful.

We went exploring up and down the coast.

Found the Pacific Ocean!

The Redwoods National Park and California Redwoods State Parks are all around us.

Lots of trails to explore.

I stumbled upon this old structure.

Turns out it is an old World War II radar site.

I headed down the trail to check it out.

It was quiet and spooky. I had the feeling I wasn't alone.

Then I saw these tracks in the trail.

Yep... Bears!

OK, I'll just see them from my truck. IN my truck.

We just love the views of the ocean. What a rugged area.

Weather has been perfect. Here we are posing for a selfie.

We found the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City.

One of the Redwood National Park visitors center was in Crescent City.

Yep, another lighthouse way out there. The St.George Reef Lighthouse.

Here are some of the Redwood trees that are right next to Hwy 101.

Some of them have chunks blasted out of them. Probably from some sad RVer.

And in Klamath, we had to stop at the Trees Of Mystery. We both have been there several times, but it is such a cool gift shop, Redwood nature trail, and now an aerial tram you could ride in.. We have done the trails before.

So this time we just stopped by to say hi to Paul and Babe.

We picked up a couple of post cards to send to our Grandson Rome, and to Donna's brother Larry.

We made it all the way north to Brookings, OR. We fueled up at Fred Meyer. Paid $3.89 for diesel. And we checked out some tourist shops. Here is the Pirate store.

I couldn't help thinking about our Grandson Erik. He loves pirates.

Heading north tomorrow.
