From Palm Springs to Soledad Canyon TT - April 22, 2018

It was a good desision to stay 9 nights at Palm Springs. After being pretty stationary all winter, we are now 'out and about' again. We finished up our stay in Palm Springs with a trip over to the Coachella Valley Preserve - Thousand Palms Oasis. We wanted to see the San Andreas Fault up close (before it becomes beach front property). This place was pretty cool. Big palm trees right along the failt line, hiking trails, and a visitor center. Glad we went.

We also enjoyed the high 90 degree weather in the pool area at the park.

No, the picture is not upside down, I am just looking up!

Yes, our time here in Palm Springs was great!

Saturday, the 21st, we lifted jacks and headed on north. It was a 140 mile drive on Interstate 10 to San Bernadino, then northwest on Highway 138 towards Landcaster/Palmdale. Traffic wasn't bad and the weather was great, no wind!

We checked in to the Thousand Trails park, Soledad Canyon. I will do a separate review on this park later.

We found a good spot to park.

We will do 3 nights here.

It is still pretty warm during the day (low 90s), but at night it drops to the mid 50s. Good sleeping weather.

Our first day here, we headed into Palmdale to visis the local Walmart and stock up a little. Then we headed towards the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark and the Blackbird Museum. Last time through here, it was closed and I wanted to see when they would be open. They were open today. So we pulled in.

Cool planes! We spent some time walking through the place and reading the plaques and taking pictures. Pretty cool!

Yep, those are the connection points on top where the space shuttle was carried.

Yeah, I know. Lots of pictures. But, Hey! it was pretty cool!

Time to head back to the RV and check out the park pool.

Fergs .... out!

  1. I had no idea the museum was there. I could look at planes all day. If you haven’t done so already, on your trip north head to McMinnville, OR to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. That’s where the Spruce Goose is as we’ll as many more aircraft. You can boondocking on site or stay at the Olde Stone Village RV Park next door. Safe travels!
