We left Wenatchee, WA 4 weeks ago today. 28 days. And now we are spending our 14th night here in Bakersfield. Good thing our plans are set in 'Jello'.
It was going to be a moving day to Ft. Mohave, AZ. Everything looked good. The truck was hitched up, gassed up, and ready to go. Then we pulled out.
'What was that clunking sound?'
The truck 'clunked' really loud when moving forward, backward, slowing down, speeding up. I could see the hitch moving back and forth. Poop!
I didn't feel safe with this, so since we were just 1 mile from Camping World, where it was installed 2 days ago, we stopped there to have it looked at. They looked, adjusted, him-hawed around....
I said OK, I want a different hitch. Something bigger, stronger...and quieter.
So we are moochdocking another night in the Camping World parking lot.
This is the piece-o-junk hitch I had them put in first.
A Reese 16K hitch with Kwik Slide.
Junk City!
Traded it out for this.
A SuperGlide Auto Slide 18K.
All hooked up....and tested!!
Ready to hit it at first light.
For only being on the road for 4 weeks, we have both experienced a pretty good case of Hitch Itch.
Just more ammo for those 'around the campfire' stories.
Still smiling.
