The 2 weeks we were at the La Conner Thousand Trails park just flew by. We made several trips to visit our Son, Tim & family. We attended the last of the season baseball games that Ryker played in.
This campsite is really wooded, with lots of separation from other RVs. Lots of trees and green bushes. Just the way we like it. It even finally warmed up here in the Pacific Northwest. Into the 80s for a nice change.
One day, we met up with Tim & Shannon and had lunch at the La Conner Brewery in town. Even though it was a rainy day, we had a good time. Then on a nice weather day, we took the ferry across the Bay from Anacortes to Friday Harbor, in the middle of the San Juan Islands. It was a beautiful day and we were hoping to spot some Orcas during the hour long ferry ride. But, no luck.
Friday Harbor is a quaint little tourist town. Lots of shops, boats, and things to see. We walked our little legs off exploring the shops.
We ended up at the Downriggers restaurant for lunch.
We had some great fish & chips....and brewskies.
And on the way back....
still no whales.
After our little RV accident, the 5th wheel had a destroyed spot in front of the wheel on the driver side. And along the rear side.
While my truck was getting fixed, I ordered a 12 foot long side body panel for the RV. With this, I would be able to replace all the damaged sections. Open Roads RV Center was an official Crusader repair facility and ordered the part from the manufacturer in Indiana. They quoted me $86.33 for the side panel, and I would have to pay for the shipping and a crate charge since it would have to be boxed up. Well the part came in. I picked it up... The bill came to just over $270.00. Wow! Oh well, it is what it is. I have been paid from my insurance company and this will take care of almost all of the damage.
I picked up some metal cutting tools at Harbor Freight and went to work cutting the large piece into workable sections.
So far so good. I am by no means a body man, but I can do this. Just a bit more trimming.
I also have been working on my tonneau cover rail on the truck. The insurance company gave me a check to just replace it, and I decided to see if I can salvage it (yep, I'm cheap). The side rail was bent horribly and they said it couldn't be straightened.
After buying 3 big clamps from Harbor Freight, and attaching it to our picnic table, I was able to get it almost straight again. Definitely good enough for me.
A functional tonneau cover again.
This La Conner Park is located along side of the Swinomish Bay, on the Indian Reservation. I walk the beaches in the mornings and it is really peaceful. These last two weeks have been nice.
Yesterday, June 19th was moving day. We packed her up and made the 95 mile trip South to the Tall Chief RV Park by Fall City, WA., an Encore campground (part of our Thousand Trails membership). We found a nice secluded wooded site.
And we may have company....they say a black bear was spotted in the campground earlier. We shall see.
The Fergs out .......
We love that area up there! Great job on the DIY fixes to your truck and rig, they look good to me!
