Last Few Days At Thunderbird Resort, Monroe, WA

Our stay here will be 15 days. On day 8, we were going to head over to the dump station and then try to find a different parking spot. The upper area has full hookups, and there are a few spots in the lower area along the river that may get satelite tv reception. We headed over and found a pretty good spot with full hookups and with a clear shot at the Dish Network satellites.

Here is our new spot, #37.

It was quite a chore getting in though. I had to back down a steep gravel road and into our site. The road tilted one way, and the site tilted the other. My RV really was leaning away from the truck. The shroud around the kingpin rubbed the rails of the truck. It was kinda scary looking. But, we are here and it is a good spot. When we leave, I think I will drive downhill.

When I was backing down, the truck and RV's brakes locked up at first and wouldn't move. I think the built in brake controller sensed the 'tilt' and put the brakes on for safety reasons. After tapping it a couple of times, I was finally able to move. Even then, when I stopped, the truck slid backwards a little on the gravel. Like I said, it was a bit scary.

This is how steep the road was.

We got rid of our sleeper sofa - yea! We had no bites on Craig's List so we activated plan B. I removed 2 bolts and the whole back came off. We removed the big drawers. Now in three pieces, Donna and I were able to move it through the door and into our truck. We donated it to the Saint Vincent DePaul store here in Monroe. Someone will be happy with it and the proceeds will go to a good cause.

After checking out a Lazy Boy store and some loveseats, recliners, and Euro style chairs, we found and bought a cute little loveseat from Dania. Our plan is to have two nice recliners and a loveseat with no bed in it. The new loveseat is so much lighter and we get to put it under the back window. It even clears the slides. Our two recliners now directly face our TV too. No more rotating chairs when we move.

There are now 5 RVillage folks here at this park. One of then is Bill Joyce (and Diane). He is 'bjoyce' on the RV-Dreams forum. We haven't seen them since a RV-Dreams rally we all attended in Oregon back in Sept 2012.

Ruth & Dale Finkenbiner, who were also at that rally, are also in the state. They have set up their 'Fusion Silver' booth at the Edmonds Art Festival.

We went over there and surprised them when we showed up. He makes the coolest jewelery. There was a lot to see at the festival. Cool stuff.

For Father's Day, Tim & Shannon (son & daughter-in-law) took us out to Anthony's Wood Fired Grill.

It is located by the bay in Everett. We had a nice meal and evening.

In a few days, we will head a little south towards Mount Rainier.

  1. What a fun time! Running into old "friends" and enjoying time with your family. I like your new furniture. We're thinking of doing the same later in the year.
