After leaving the Ponderosa RV Resort, where the accident happened, we made three one night stop-overs. Quick overnight stops where we don't even unhook the truck. The first stop was a 179 mile move to the Elks Lodge in Red Bluff, CA. We had 30 Amp and water. There was a dump station, but we stayed hooked up and didn't need to dump. Worked great for an overnight stop. $25.00 for the night.
The next day we went 252 miles, by Mount Shasta, over Siskiyou Pass, and into Oregon. We stopped at the Seven Feathers Casino. A great boondocking stop.
After removing the damaged parts of our RV hanging out, it wasn't looking all that bad. I realized the truck was really worse off than the RV.
The insurance company, National General, after looking at photos, sent me a preliminary estimate of the damage. The RV was set at $2,657.73 and the truck was $5,531.41, but they later revised it to $2,724.06. That's a total of $5,381.73. Wow!
While we were at the casino, we had a nice dinner in the restaurant there, and gave them $40.00 via the slots. A nice relaxing stop-over.
The third one-night stop, after a 224 mile drive, was at the Vancouver, WA Elks Lodge. It was $20.00 for nice spot with 50 amp and water.
While we were there, our oldest daughter, Candy, visited us and we all went out to the Black Angus restaurant. We had a great dinner. They made awesome steaks!
We did stop at RV Country (a RV parts store) and I bought a couple of water tank pull valve handles. Two were busted off.
Yea! We can dump tanks again!
Then we drove another 279 miles to the Thousand Trails campground at Crescent Bar. This is where we have spent lots of time here, and even work-camped here a few years ago. Just 25 miles from our hometown of Wenatchee, WA. The park just opened up for the season and there are not too many folks here. We did get a good spot with a nice Columbia River view.
While here, I started working on the RV damage. I will have to order one body panel,
Mangled metal!
but there is a lot I can work myself. Here is some of the pics of what I am working on right now. The wheel liners seem to be fine.
Let's see what I can do....
Cut away the bad stuff.
Nice hole. Ready to mix up some fiberglass.
The back corner. Not sure what to do here. Maybe a little touch up paint...we will see.
The truck is another matter. I am making arrangements to get it in and the work started.
The bed is too wide now to roll my tonneau cover back.
Tailgate will not open or close.I have to use ropes to hold it closed while travelling.
That's it for this one.
The Fergs out .......
I would have thought both the truck and 5th wheel would have been more than that. It will be interesting to see what the actual repair shops estimate will come in at.
