We left the Elks lodge at 10 AM. Just a couple of hundred miles to drive today. We are heading to the Tri Cities area (Kennewick, Richland, & Pasco) to visit our youngest daughter, Kim.
We drove along the Columbia River gorge. It is a beautiful trip. Very wooded and green. The weather couldn't have been nicer. We stopped to gas up the RV in Hood River. Gas prices were $3.07 at Fred Meyer. We pulled in and then realized that in order to turn the corner to get out, I would have to back up a little bit to make that turn. Can't do it with a toad attached. This is twice now that we have had to unhook to maneuver through a gas station. Oh well, we are getting pretty used to it now, no big deal. Just another little difference from driving in a 5th wheel.
Our destination was Hood Park. It is a Corp of Engineers park. This is the first COE park we have stayed at. We got a 'Standard Electical' site in a nice spot for $11.00 a night. With my Access pass, I pay only $5.50 a night. What a deal. We paid $16.50 for the next 3 nights.
The site only has 50 amp electrical, but there is fresh water and a dump station at the entrance.
Here is some pics of this place.
This area is nice and green.
Here we are. Site 19. Kim is visiting us.
Donna and Kim.
No TV at this spot. Too many trees. I guess I will be missing the new photos of Pluto.
Right along the banks of the Snake River.
Big storage tanks across the river.
Lots of geese.
Beyond the bridge, is the confluence of the Snake and Columbia Rivers.
These COE parks are very nice. And inexpensive. I think we will use these parks more in our travels.
Kim visited us at our RV just after we got setup. Two of the days here, we went into Pasco to her house. She made diner for us each evening. One evening she made chicken curry, the next day, she made Korokke, a Japanese meat and potato patty. Both were great meals.
We had a good visit with her.
I am with our 'old' cat, KC. We took care of her while Kim was away at college.
Heading to Crescent Bar tomorrow.
:)
Looks like a nice time. We're just at the other end of the river from you ;-) We love COE parks Just stayed at one in Twin Falls, ID. $15 for W&E with a free dump station a mile away. In a nice park on a river too.
ReplyDeleteJust ran across your blog good information. We have fulltimed since 2011 and started out with a Cameo and a Ford Diesel truck. We ended up trading for a 07 National Seabreeze (v-10) much improvement. We can take any mountain pass with no problem. We crossed Arizona 115 degree weather and the V10 ran perfectly. Anyway safe travels!!
