From AZ to NM to TX - January 26-31, 2016

It has been a fun 3 weeks in the Q desert. And now we are off.

We returned to Copper Mountain RV Park, just east of Yuma.

We got together one more time with my sister Karen & Cliff. We got laundry caught up, washed the Jeep, played Bingo (no winning this time), and even a little wine tasting.

After two nights there, we said our good-byes and headed on east.

A little over 200 miles later, we were parked at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson.

This is a good place to stop. This is going to be just a 'one nighter'. This is just our second 'bump & run' stop in our 3rd year on the road. We hope to keep these type of stops at a minimum.

We took off from the Casino around 10 AM. On the way out of Tucson, we gassed up the RV at an Arco for just $1.49 a gallon for regular. That is a record low so far!

As we were about to leave Arizona, I spotted 2 Javelinas along the highway. First ones I had ever seen. They do exist!

After 275 miles, we turned north a bit at Deming, NM to the City of Rocks State Park.

We have had many friends stop here and it looked pretty cool. We had to stop here too.

And it was really neat! This stop was just another 'bump & run' but we said we will be back next year for sure.

A wind storm was coming, so we got an early start. Luckily, the wind was a tail wind. We are moving this fast because we have reservations in Lakehills, TX on Febuary 1st.

There is a bunch of smelly cow farms along the road as you enter El Paso. In one of them, Donna spotted some camels. Yep, camels!

And the drive through El Paso wasn't bad at all. I guess since it was Saturday, that may have had something to do with it too.

We stopped in Fort Stockton, after a 370 mile day, at a Passport America park.

Not much here, but FHU for $11.00 a day. We are going to sit here for 2 days, rest, let the wind storm pass, and then do our last 300 mile move to our destination Thousand Trails park.

The Parkview RV Park....

Besides Walmart, we scoped out the old Fort Stockton, a historic US Army outpost back in 1858. But the pictures I decided to take, were us and the world's largest road runner. Donna loves these critters.

Next stop, we will finally get to park it for awhile and relax .... and explore San Antonio!

A RV Dreamers Mini Reunion, Quartzsite, AZ - January 25, 2016

We all gathered at the picnic shelter in La Posa South, the LTVA BLM area in Quartzsite, AZ. I think there were 41 of us, 39 Dreamers and 2 guests. Lots of good food. We brought hamburgers and cupcakes.

We all had plenty to eat. We met lots of familiar people and several new couples too.
Steve and Dianne kinda headed this gathering up. They reserved the shelter for us, and Steve took the group photo.

Here is the group photo.

Steve and Dianne Colibaba, Karen and Bob Palmer, Dale and Ruth Finkenbiner, Larry and Kathy Seifert, Gerry and Linda Burns, Corey and Jen, Bob and Lindy Arel, Allen and Donna Ferguson, Matt Terrell, Tom Drotning, Harry and Vicki Forrey, Jim and Barb Nelson, Steve and Debbie McCormack, Ellen and Mario Bendana, Red and Pam Beers, Les and Sue Young, Gina Rouse, Paul and Kim Halin, Claudia and Mike Bezares, Cori and Greg Young, Tracy and Lee Perkins, Dave and Debbie McEnroe.

And here are all the pictures I took (and 1 from Steve C.). A bunch of them! Not the best lighting conditions, but everyone is in them.

And us!

It was a great time.

Tomorrow, we head away from Quartzsite. We did 3 weeks this year. Going south and east .... to Texas ...again.
